Business mobiles for a Northern Ireland firm cost far less than most renewals suggest. In November 2026, the big UK networks listed business SIM-only plans from about £8 to £25 per line per month ex VAT on 24-month terms 1Source 1Business SIM only deals and contracts — EE Business (prices ex VAT).business.ee.co.uk/sim-only/See in Sources2Source 2Business SIM only deals — Three Business (prices ex VAT; offers 18 September to 11 November 2026).www.three.co.uk/business/simSee in Sources, and a new iPhone 17 or Samsung Galaxy S26 on a business plan from about £49 to £57 a month 4Source 4Apple iPhone 17 business plans — EE Business (prices ex VAT).business.ee.co.uk/phones/apple/iphone-17/See in Sources5Source 5Samsung Galaxy S26 business plans — EE Business (prices ex VAT).business.ee.co.uk/phones/samsung/samsung-galaxy-s26/See in Sources. Before you renew, check three things: the price rise written into the contract each year, whether every line is still used, and whether company phones are managed so business data can be wiped if one is lost. Coverage is rarely the deciding factor any more: Ofcom says all four networks reach 97% of Northern Ireland outside premises 6Source 6Nations report 2025 (Connected Nations, Northern Ireland) — Ofcom, 19 November 2025.www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-and-broadband/coverage-and-speeds/nations-report-2025See in Sources.

What do business SIM-only plans cost in 2026?
These are list prices read from the networks' business sites on 4 November 2026, all ex VAT on 24-month contracts. Offers change every few weeks, so treat them as a guide to the range rather than a quote.
| Network | Entry plan | Mid plan | Unlimited data | Annual rise written into the contract |

For comparison, Ofcom found the average residential SIM-only customer paid around £18 a month in mid-2025 19Source 19Pricing and consumer engagement: trends in the UK communications sector — Ofcom, 26 February 2026.www.ofcom.org.uk/siteassets/resources/documents/research-and-data/multi-sector/pricing/2025/pricing-and-consumer-engagement-report.pdfSee in Sources. What do business handset contracts cost?
A handset contract spreads the cost of the phone over the term. On EE's business site in November 2026, an iPhone 17 (256GB) with 50GB of data was £49 a month over 24 months with £8.33 upfront, or £57 with unlimited data, the same as a Samsung Galaxy S26 with unlimited data 4Source 4Apple iPhone 17 business plans — EE Business (prices ex VAT).business.ee.co.uk/phones/apple/iphone-17/See in Sources5Source 5Samsung Galaxy S26 business plans — EE Business (prices ex VAT).business.ee.co.uk/phones/samsung/samsung-galaxy-s26/See in Sources. Stretching to 36 months brought both to £40 a month 4Source 4Apple iPhone 17 business plans — EE Business (prices ex VAT).business.ee.co.uk/phones/apple/iphone-17/See in Sources5Source 5Samsung Galaxy S26 business plans — EE Business (prices ex VAT).business.ee.co.uk/phones/samsung/samsung-galaxy-s26/See in Sources, but you keep paying for a three-year-old phone. EE's handset plans also rise by £3 a month each 31 March 4Source 4Apple iPhone 17 business plans — EE Business (prices ex VAT).business.ee.co.uk/phones/apple/iphone-17/See in Sources.
The arithmetic is worth doing: compare the total over the term with buying the phone outright and adding a SIM-only plan. For staff who don't need a new flagship every two years, SIM-only with a phone you keep for three or four years is usually cheaper, as long as the phone is still receiving security updates.
What price rises are written into business contracts?
Since 17 January 2025, Ofcom has required providers to set out price rises "clearly in pounds and pence, before a customer signs up", instead of linking them to inflation 7Source 7Statement: prohibiting inflation-linked price rises — Ofcom, 19 July 2024.www.ofcom.org.uk/consultations-and-statements/category-1/review-of-inflation-linked-telecoms-price-risesSee in Sources. Each network now writes a fixed amount into its contracts: EE adds £2.08 a month per plan every 31 March 1Source 1Business SIM only deals and contracts — EE Business (prices ex VAT).business.ee.co.uk/sim-only/See in Sources, Vodafone £2.09 a month a year 18Source 18Business Multibuy SIM terms — Vodafone UK.www.vodafone.co.uk/business/business-mobile-plans/multibuy-simSee in Sources, and Three between 50p and £1.50 depending on the price 2Source 2Business SIM only deals — Three Business (prices ex VAT; offers 18 September to 11 November 2026).www.three.co.uk/business/simSee in Sources. Over a 24-month contract with 15 lines, a £2.08 rise adds about £375 a year from the second year, before VAT.
The Ofcom protections apply to consumers and to micro and small businesses and not-for-profits with no more than ten people working for them, unless they expressly agree to waive them 7Source 7Statement: prohibiting inflation-linked price rises — Ofcom, 19 July 2024.www.ofcom.org.uk/consultations-and-statements/category-1/review-of-inflation-linked-telecoms-price-risesSee in Sources. A firm with more staff should read its contract and contract summary closely, because the regulator's rules may not cover it.
How do you secure corporate mobiles?
A company phone holds email, files and passwords. Mobile device management (MDM) lets the business set a PIN, keep the phone updated and remove business data remotely. Microsoft Intune is the most common choice for businesses on Microsoft 365, and it is included in Microsoft 365 Business Premium, which lists at £16.90 per user per month on an annual commitment, ex VAT 14Source 14Microsoft 365 Business Premium — Microsoft UK (list price, annual commitment, ex VAT).www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365/business/microsoft-365-business-premiumSee in Sources. Should your business use eSIM?
An eSIM is a SIM built into the phone and set up by download rather than by inserting a card. For a business it removes the posting and swapping of SIM cards, and a replacement phone can be connected the same day. Most current phones support it. Apple's iPhone Air and iPhone Duo are eSIM-only everywhere, while other recent iPhones sold in the UK still have both an eSIM and a nano-SIM slot 15Source 15Learn which type of SIM your iPhone or iPad uses — Apple Support, 25 October 2026.support.apple.com/en-gb/118569See in Sources. Before you move, check that your network supports eSIM on business plans and agree who in the business can request a new eSIM profile, because whoever controls that can take over the number.
Do the 3G and landline switch-offs affect business mobiles?
Ofcom says the UK's 3G networks are now switched off, and 2G will follow, starting with EE from May 2029 and finishing by 2033 at the latest 9Source 93G and 2G switch-off — Ofcom, updated 10 August 2026.www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-and-broadband/coverage-and-speeds/3g-switch-offSee in Sources. Very old phones, some vehicle trackers, lone-worker devices and alarm diallers relied on 3G or 2G, so check any device that has its own SIM. Separately, BT Group will retire the old landline network by 31 January 2027, and Openreach says alarms and payment terminals on those lines will need to be moved 10Source 10Time for a big switch up as PSTN switch-off looms — Openreach, 5 February 2026.www.openreach.com/news/time-for-a-big-switch-up-as-pstn-switch-off-looms/See in Sources. Ask each equipment supplier whether a digital line or a SIM-based unit is the right replacement.
What should you ask at renewal?
- 1.How many lines do we pay for, and which have not been used in the last three months?
- 2.What does each user actually use in data, and could most of the team move to a smaller plan?
- 3.What is the fixed annual price rise, and on what date does it apply 7Source 7Statement: prohibiting inflation-linked price rises — Ofcom, 19 July 2024.www.ofcom.org.uk/consultations-and-statements/category-1/review-of-inflation-linked-telecoms-price-risesSee in Sources?
- 4.Are we being offered SIM-only, or is a handset cost hidden in a monthly price we have already paid off?
- 5.Is there a pooled data or multi-line discount for our number of users?

How does BTNI help with business mobiles?
Corporate mobiles are part of BTNI's Communications service alongside the phone system, for businesses in Lisburn, Belfast and across Northern Ireland: company phones enrolled in Intune, the office number on every mobile, and contracts reviewed before renewal.
